Ellise Ramos

Please visit my official website at https://elliseramos.com/ for more information.

My writer name is Ellise Ramos – the name I was born with. But I recently changed my name to Harmony van der Schyff after getting married. I can say a lot of things about this decision – such as never being able to identify with my birth name, a traumatic childhood I want to forget, or a complete shedding of my old identity, but really, it’s a perk that came with having to change my last name when I got married anyway, so why not change the whole thing?

That confusing tidbit aside, as all my published work is under Ellise Ramos, this is the pseudonym I will continue writing under. I am 32 years old, Toronto-based, and currently undergoing pregnancy with the best partner there is. I have Bipolar Disorder I, ADHD and PTSD, and have decided to set this blog up in order to provide a resource for the other mothers out there who are going through the same crazy journey, while dealing with mental health at the same time.

I hope we can all go on this journey together and find comfort in our community. ❤

Ruptures

RUPTURES is a collection of poetry about survival, loss, trauma and addiction. After being diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and PTSD in 2015, Ellise has lived her life in a constant brink of chaos and euphoria. Her poetry is contemporary, insanity, addiction, escape and trauma. It is a desperate woman’s attempt to claw, carve and sear her mark in a world that has continuously denied and forgotten her. It is also a testament to her identity, one that’s slowly being torn apart by her disease. She hopes that her poetry will find its place in your heart:

“I love you. The misunderstood, the confused, the lost and the lonely. We are artists through and through, and this world is wonderful because of you.”
-Ellise Ramos
